• I just upgrade to YARPP 3.4 and have a problem. All the images for related are from my latest post. I haven’t publish anything else, so I don’t know if it uses the latest post or it just picked the latest post image available when I upgrade.

I use a template and I have specified a custom image for the posts that does not have one.

Before all images where correct and if a post does not have image, the specified one showed up.

Now the complete site shows the image of my latest post.

How can I fix this ?

    Thanks.

  • Can you send me a link? Also, what YARPP template file are you using?

    Hi mitcho.

I am using a custom template, if you want I can mail you everything.

I deleted the txt files timthumb created and now not a single post have related posts. I changed from 5 to 1 the threshold and some came back, then tried 5 again and nothing, none has related posts.

    Thanks.

Please do email me. x@x.com, x=mitcho.

Mitcho .. Even I’ve got the same problem on by blog [ see here ] ..Its the same on all single post pages.

where after the update to YARPP 3.4.The first images are not display..but only the default image is displayed.

    I’am using a custom template.

Can I also send you my custom template code file .

    Thanks.

Mitcho – Same thing with me, happened right after the update. I’ve tried tweaking a few things and am having several problems: (1) Only one image will show for all posts, (2) Can get no more than 2 related posts to appear, and (3) Now the same 2 related posts appear on everything.

I’ve tried with a custom template and the standard YARPP settings…both with no luck.

@avil, please send me your template too. But what is the issue… you lost your related posts? or that they don’t display their correct thumbnails?

    Hello folks,
I just upgraded to 3.4 and ran into some problems with custom templates that sound similar to yours. “Automatic display” and widget seem to be working fine, if I’m not using a custom template.

First of all, my custom template which worked perfectly with all previous versions is no longer working (at all):

    http://pastebin.com/NpXiQUsb

Second, I tried using the default yarpp-template-list.php bundled with YARPP 3.4, and with 20 related posts it returned the same two posts, over and over again (or to be more precise, 19 times one post, and 1 time another post, on every page).

@mitcho – The related posts are missing and the images are lost on all posts where only the default image is displayed.Sent you my template.

    – Thanks

@chadrew: “Second, I tried using the default yarpp-template-list.php bundled with YARPP 3.4, and with 20 related posts it returned the same two posts, over and over again (or to be more precise, 19 times one post, and 1 time another post, on every page).” Does this happen when you turn off the custom template?

@mitcho that seems to happen whenever I call <?php related_posts(); ?> manually, regardless if with custom template or not. I guess this problem is not related to custom templates after all.

“Automatically display related posts”: everything’s fine (even when using the default custom template).

    Widget: everything’s fine, likewise.

Place <?php related_posts(); ?> manually: the problem of same post appearing as described above.

Mitcho – I keep trying to tweak settings but am having the same trouble as chadrew. I am getting the same four ‘related posts’ for everything, even when not related in any way. I have turned off the custom template and still have no luck. I am just going to turn off YARPP until this gets resolved.

On an unrelated note, I solved the trouble with my custom template by adding global $post; to it. I’m not sure why that’s needed since the template seems to have its own loop, but I’m not a programmer so I can’t say πŸ™‚

@chadrew can you please share more about that ?

    Add it where ? how ? etc…

    Thanks.

chadrew – any chance you would be willing to send your custom.php to me? I can’t get mine working.

I got the same problem. I had to un-install the YARP 3.4 version and re-installed 3.3 version, anything with 3.4 version won’t work. Everything is working fine now. Guess 3.4 version is not ready yet for those of us who have customized templates.
