Does anyone know how to stop slider from appearing on every page

I would like to add a slider on the front page of my wordpress website however I do not wish it to be loaded or displayed on every page only the index page. Would any one know how this can be accomplished?

I have placed the slider in the header.php file but problem it appears on every page. I just want it to appear on the template index page and not on the rest.
