The whole website changes size, including the background? I seem to remember something like Static vs Dynamic but I’m not sure those are the terms that refer to this.

I’m trying to get a website up and running and I don’t want it to act like it’s acting now. Please go to Pickstroke to see what I’m talking about. When you hit CTRL+ only the center part gets larger which changes it’s position in relation to the background. How do I get the background to change to keep everything the same on the page?

  • I think that you are talking about a FLUID layout VERSUS a FIXED layout. Fluid layouts are when the elements on a webpage adjust to the size of the screen that it is being viewed on… by using percentages for the size of different elements on the page.

I’m no expert, but that is how I would explain it.

And then FIXED WIDTH layouts, are exactly that. It uses FIXED (Set) dimensions for the elements on the page, and their sizes do not change. It’s a safer bet I think in a lot of cases, although I use both.
