  • Hello all,

    I’m having problems setting up my multisite with domain mapping. Current Setup:

    WP Multisite with subfolder install
    Using WordPress MU Domain Mapping Plugin

    My question is this:

    On my web hosting (Bluehost), the primary domain that i’m using for my wordpress is not the primary domain attached to my web hosting. So for example:

    WP Main Domain -> http://www.hello.com
    Web Hosting Primary Domain -> http://www.world.com

    Now, http://www.hello.com is an add on domain. So first question is, do i use the ip address or cname option when setting up the domain settings?

    second question is, for other domains, how do i setup the A Name or C Name. I can’t seem to get it to point to http://www.hello.com. So if my second domain is: http://www.foo.com, do i need to setup a CName www that points to http://www.hello.com or an AName www that points to http://www.hello.com

    Sorry i’m a noob with mx entries… Hope someone can help me.

    Thanks!

  • The easiest way to set up domain mapping is to point all your add-on domains to the same folder.. and use the IP

    So the A records for all of your add-on domains point to your server name (do a dig on your hosting domain (world.com) and make them all the same).
    Then you’ll need to go into your cpanel or plesk or whatever they give you and point all your add-on domains at the folder you have wordpress installed in.
    Then enter the IP of your server (just ping world.com).
    Map all your add-on domains through the plugin to the various blogs.

    Good luck 🙂
