• Last night I had about 8 posts scheduled to go the next morning. This is what I do every night. This morning I woke up and only one had published… went back in and they all say “missed schedule” .. what does this mean? How would this happen?

  • What I can think of is that your site might have gone down, and when it came back up the scheduled time was already missed. Is it possible?

Concievable … but is that a standard thing? ie, if the site is down over the scheduled period then posts that were scheduled just don’t get published? Like, wordpress doesn’t realise… “hey, this is published in the past, better make it live now!”

It happens when the cron job doesn’t run for whatever reason. Normally that gets triggered when someone visits your site. If no one visits your site within x amount of time from when you scheduled the post, sometimes the post doesn’t get posted :/ WP-Cron’s imperfect.

    I just found this plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-missed-schedule/
Makes me think it happens often enough 😉
