[Plugin: JQuery Accordion Menu Widget] Save State Question

Let’s say the last menu item that I expanded was the fourth from the top. The next time I would go to the site, the fourth item would be expanded, which was not what I wanted. So I un-checked the Save Menu State option. Which solved my main problem, but now the accordion menu seems to be flickering and re-drawing more than previously. What does turning off that option do, apart from saving the state between visits?
