Hi. I see there are several calendar plugin options. Without having to install them all, can someone tell me if any would allow me to import my data that’s already entered into Outlook (which I can export as a csv file)? Rather than having to hand enter everything in using the wordpress interface?

I want to have a block in my sidebar that automatically displays upcoming birthdays/anniversaries, etc.

    Thanks for any suggestions…

Well, I don’t know about the calendar ones. The perfect “upcoming events” plugin is Countdown from http://www.redalt.com/wiki/Countdown, which runs off a simple text file, and displays a reasonably configurable list of however many future event dates/titles as you like.

I doubt it’s set up to import from a .csv file though. You might look around the support forums at http://redalt.com/support/forum/8

Thanks so much for your response! I’ll check out Countdown and see how it goes.

Countdown is really cool, so good that I modified it. One tweak added the ability to calculate ‘how many years’ to an event if you added the complete date to the text file. I also added user_level control over this for security. My second tweak was to email someone when an event comes within a user-entered number of days. I have found these items useful. Maybe you would, too.

I would love to get your modified plugin especially the email someone tweak.

    Thanks

Well I followed the link back to jwurster’s site and had to hunt around a bit until I found wordpress plugins. Well for those of you who are interested here is the link to his modified plugin
