Long post seeks plugin to generate multi-paged post

I’m writing posts and they are getting way too long. I’m looking for a plugin that will split the long post into several smaller pages with linking between the pages. I expect the admin side would allow me some degree of control over how long the post became before new pages were generated for longer posts.

I have spent a couple of hours in the plugins repository and have only found pagination plugins that offer automated linking between individual posts, which is basically the opposite idea of what I need.

Is anyone aware of a current plugin that would serve my needs. Preferably, it would be one where I would not need to go into the template files and alter the code.
