    I have a subdirectory multisite configuration. Works very nicely except I cannot get the featured image for custom post types to show up in the post add screen.

    To be clear, I author themes all the time and this seems to be a problem associated with the fact this is multisite.

    I register the post type as usual, add the thumbnail supports key. Everything else is taken into account (editor, custom-fields) and work, but thumbnail does not add the Featured Image block to the custom post type as it usually does for normal single site wordpress installs.

    Wondering if anyone has any experience with this issue or whether I should log this as a bug.

    Thanks

    Aha. Network Admin -> Settings, enable Image upload media. Phew.

    Yes, if you can’t upload media, you can’t make it featured 😀

    whew! I finally found a topic that wasn’t closed related to this..

    Firstly … version 3.3.1 multi-site

    Network Admin / Settings / Enable Image Upload Media
    >> doesn’t exist.

    I do have for each of the 39 sites of my Multisite the following

    Network Admin / Sites / All Sites / Edit {individual site} / Settings /
    >> lots of settings .. but, no “Image Upload Media” setting

    ////////

    I have a custom field … I am using code in functions.php to set an image as the featured post. The thumbnail featured post does not show up on my front page ….. While I have exhausted my time looking for a solution in these forums … it always boils down to the above issue – “Tick the Image upload Media” box, which doesn’t exist.

    Any ideas what I can do?

    Thanks-in advance.
