I switched nameservers 2 weeks ago.

Some people (about 1/2 of normal viewership) can see the current iteration of my blog: http://www.kimberlymichelle.com. The rest can’t and are stuck with Oct 13th being my final blog entry.

I’ve contacted both the prior and current web hosts and received no help. I’ve used Google Webmaster Tools to get Google to recrawl my page (all the cached verisons they have are the OLD site as well).

Any help anyone could provide would be immensely wonderful…

  • Changing nameservers in itself doesn’t necessarily make a difference. Unless the DNS records at at the new nameserver are different.

Your site appears to be registered with godaddy and hosted with bluehost.com at 66.147.242.190. Do you know what you are expecting to be the right settings?

On http://www.kimberlymichelle.com/ the last post I see ais the 13th as well.

A check on http://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/www.kimberlymichelle.com shows the same as what TCBarrett said.

Bluehost is the correct NEW server, so those are the settings I’m expected to see… which would show updated entries through yesterday.

I’m using chrome or safari-mobile and can see new entries, but if I use IE or Firefox I see the old site (on my computer).

Do you know how to ping on your Windows box? If so, try pinging your domain and see what IP comes up.

OK… here’s an interesting twist. No idea if this is all connected or not.

If I log into (wp-admin) the site from a computer/browser that isn’t seeing the correct front page… then the site is in its complete form.

But if I’m not logged in, then I see the Oct. 13th edition.

Any idea what this problem might be???

You didn’t do any DNS pointing with from your local box? It could be that you’re going to the old server when you log in on the back end.

I did nothing to my site other than point my domain’s nameserver to the new host.

When I log in… I’m going into the NEW server, not the old one. Then I see the CORRECT version of the site.

If I’m not logged in, then I don’t see the site.

I don’t know how to ping on my Windows box.

That’s the thing, we don’t know.

I mean, given that the domain resolves to the right IP, though you should check with Bluehost that it IS the right IP, and that you see posts only when logged in, it’s POSSIBLE you’re actually going to the OLD site on the backend!

Did you use the same account name/password with the new site? If not, try uploading a plugin inside WP and see which password it takes?

    Thread Starter bruinchiq

    (@bruinchiq)

The new site’s backend on WordPress has a different password. That’s how I know which site I’m logging into.

I’ve decided to switch the nameservers back for now and most likely will cancel my account with bluehost and figure out if I can transfer things over successfully with a new host.

I’ve switched hosts twice before with no hassle whatsoever, so I’m just perplexed as to what is happening here.

    That’s good!

If you don’t switch back, we can test a couple things.

First, create a test.txt file on the NEW server. See if you can get to that from the front end.

    Also, who’s the OLD webhost?

    Thread Starter bruinchiq

    (@bruinchiq)

    the OLD webhost is webhostingpad.com

I uploaded the file and can get to it on Internet Explorer (the browser that views the OLD site).

I get a down for maintenance note.

Ugh. I would get, from bluehost, your new IP address and hit that directly to test.

http://66.147.242.190/~kimbery0 pulls up a 404 which is probably because it’s not the ‘real’ URL.

Can you get into http://66.147.242.190/~kimbery0/wp-admin ?

I know you’ve pointed the DNS back, so at this point I would change my blog URLs to http://66.147.242.190/~kimbery0 and see if THEN I get the new posts.

I actually flipped the nameservers back last night… I just want to exhaust my options with Bluehost and see what is possibly the problem.

I’ve opened up kimberlymichelle.com RIGHT NOW in both Chrome and IE.

Chrome (up to date website): http://i39.tinypic.com/2e185y9.jpg

IE (last post Oct 13): http://i44.tinypic.com/igvnrc.jpg
