    Hi scribu,

Been trying to use this on a new wordpress site for a client (so she can edit things herself easily) but it doesn’t seem to be working at all. At the moment I’m only able to try it out in Opera (my main browser) and FireFox but will try and test it in IE and Chromium over the next couple of days. And I’m using version 2.1.3 of the plugin.

When I login via Opera a browser alert box flashes up saying the browser’s not supported (so I’m assuming you’re already aware of this). but in FireFox nothing appears whatsoever, no message and no edit button. And I mean on any aspect of the page (not just images as reported by a few others).

One thing that does appear on both browsers tho is part of the HTML tags for linked text objects, for example the About page title appears as About”>About. This is only visible when logged in (and hopefully only to those who have a higher rank than subscriber) so it’s not a major issue at the moment.

Oh, and in Opera, bizarrely enough, it is possible to edit some text objects and even widgets (the “Edit” button appears on most objects when the page loads), but so far not the content areas.

Not sure if I’ve explained properly (in a bit of a rush) so if you’re not sure about anything I’ve posted let me know and I’ll try re-word it clearer.

    Thanks in advance,

    LJ

Try this: Go to WP Admin -> Settings -> Front-end Editor and:

    – uncheck “Enable the WYSIWYG editor.” checkbox. This should get rid of the browser warning.

    – uncheck “Post fields > titles” checkbox. This should get rid of “About”>About”

unfordentatly, Fron-End Editor uses an older jquery library.

Perhaps an other plugin is needing the newer or another version and blocking then they block each other from working…

Hope that scribu updates sometimes to newer jquery or get rid of the plugin if it not working correctly.

Actually, it uses an older version of Aloha Editor, which in turn uses an older version of jQuery.

And yes, I do plan to update it soon.

Thanks scribu, your advice has temporarily resolved the issue 🙂 I say temporarily because:

    1. When I followed both steps initially both issues seemed to be resolved except the raw HTML of the post/page is displayed when editing the content area. Since the client in this case would be brain-fried just trying to read the WYSIWYG editor is fairly important. Re-enabling it led me to discover that it’s actually the “Site title and description” option under “Other fields” that was preventing the “Edit” button appearing in FireFox, only after disabling it does the editor work in FireFox. Not sure if this is related to the outdated jQuery issue.

Ultimately though with both “Title” and “Site title and description” options disabled the editor seems to work fine on all other areas in FireFox. Unfortunately it still doesn’t load in Opera but it’s not a major issue as the clients main browser is FireFox, it’s just me who needs to switch between browsers for the time being, haha!

EDIT: Not sure if this is an editor issue or a wordpress issue as I’ve seen similar incidents on other sites I’ve worked (and typically never gotten around to reporting them >.< ) but the editor seems to be loading the options for the Theme My Login widget when I click on the edit button of the Links widget… Very bizarre! :-/
