Thanks for posting this.
I’ve just spent a solid hour going through the solutions suggested in the discussion forums and so far I haven’t been able to get anything to work. I’m not an experienced coder so it is challenging to implement them.
However I did try these solutions:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-page-title-from-static-home-only-not-other-pages?replies=12
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/removing-page-title-from-static-home-page?replies=7
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-title-of-the-page?replies=9
with no success. Also I read through the solutions found on the first two pages of the search you posted and none of them were applicable due to my site not having the same index or page php files, that kind of thing.
Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.
Ooops, my apologies, I didn’t think of that. Here is the page I’d like to remove the page title “Home” from:
http://www.mindstreaming.com/
I haven’t read through the other responses, but what theme are you using, fifthhouse? Also, is your home page a default home page or are you using a different page to display as the front page?
For most themes, the Pages are typically controlled by a page.php file located in the template directory. If you can find this file, find code that looks similar to the following. I say similar, because not every template displays the title exactly the same:
<?php if ( is_front_page() ) { ?>
<h2><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<?php } else { ?>
<h1><?php the_title(); ?></h1>
<?php } ?>
Copy and paste what you find, or let me know if it’s the same. This would be the code that needs editing.
OK fantastic. Thank you. I’m using Twenty Ten theme. As my home page I am using a static page. I think I created the page and added it as the home page from the settings admin, but I’m not completely sure.
I did find the code, it’s in a file called loop-page-php.
Here is the code:
<?php if ( is_front_page() ) { ?>
<h2 class=”entry-title”><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<?php } else { ?>
<h1 class=”entry-title”><?php the_title(); ?></h1>
<?php } ?>
Don’t edit the Twenty Ten theme. Instead create a child theme for your changes. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.
Hello and thank you. I looked it over but haven’t had time to implement the child theme. Once I’ve done that I’ll post again.
