Changing my blog URL

How do I safely change the URL of my WordPress blog?

My old blog points here: http://www.youforie.com (powered by Joomla)
My current WordPress blog points here: http://www.youforie.com/magazine_youforie
How do I get my WordPress site to point to: http://www.youforie.com ???
I don’t want the “magazine_youforie” in my URL’s, so simply forwarding the URL is not what I want.

I called my hosting company and asked them to reroute the “magazine_youforie” folder to be the default folder of youforie.com. The support guy who helped me TOTALLY screwed up, and deleted half my content. I spent the next day re-uploading all that stuff.

How do I do this without screwing up my blog?

I don’t care about the Joomla content.
