• When I type in my blog name to Google, e.g. WriteGreatNovels.com, I get this message:

“This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help.”

Can anyone explain to me why this shows up? I’m a real newbie, and am stumbling around in the dark. I’d really appreciate your help (in easy-to-follow non-techie speak for Dummies, e.g. Me). Many thanks in advance, guys.

  • How long has it been you created your website may be is not indexed yet

check your permalinks settings http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks – there is a double url in the links to the post.
particular read the note just at (and the rest): http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Structure_Tags

do you have a static front page set in settings -> reading ?

    Hi Guys,

Thanks again for your help so far. I’ve gone to the Permalinks link & read what it says. But I’ll need to read it several times before it sinks in!

Leading on from that, I’ve also read the Codex, “Giving WP its own directory” & as per instruction No. 5, I’ve gone into my dashboard and changed the WP address URL to writegreatnovels.com/wordpress and changed the site address to writegreatnovels.com & got the error message as stated I would “site not found”. Now instruction No. 6: What are my “core files” and how do I move them and where?

As you can tell, I’m a real newbie, so any help you can give will be greatly received.

BTW govpatel, I’m still getting the “embarrassing …” message when i log onto my site, so I’m not sure what’s happening there. I probably need to sort out my URLs and whathaveyou first.

    Cheers!

Your WP files will be in your domain’s root folder.

i got error message when i open my site

any one help me how to solve this error:this is somewhat embarrassing isnt it?
