• I’m trying to use an older version of the “Now Reading” plugin because it is compatible with my version of WordPress (1.5.1.3).

    I’ve got the plugin installed and activated. The options appear in my admin area. The only thing I don’t have is the code I need to insert into my sidebar in order to get the plugin to display on my blog.

    Here is the plugin I’m using:
    http://robm.me.uk/wp-content/projects/now-reading/files/2.3/now-reading.zip

    I can’t get the code I need from the author – he apparently doesn’t keep old version information around.

    Is it possible (for someone more knowledgeable than me) to access the plugin .php file and tell me what the code is that will tell my blog to display it in my sidebar.

    It would be greatly (and let me ephasis the word “greatly”) appreciated.

  • Is there some reason you haven’t upgraded to a more secure version of wordpress? That version had some serious compromised areas, and leaving it online at that version is not a good idea….

    As far as a sidebar call: I don’t see anything in the file itself. Knowing what I know about other plugin calls, I’d try this (and NO GUARANTEES it will work, mind!)

    <?php now_reading(); ?>

    But really, there’s not much point in trying to make something work on an unsupported version of the program. There are some really great Amazon thingies for later versions.

    I’m not internet savy enough to do the upgrade (although I’d like to be.)

    I had someone else set up my blog on the server I pay for hosting.

    I know how to FTP stuff to my site but that is about it.

    Thanks for the attempt at help. I’ll try it and see if it works.
