• My version of YOURLS is generating short URLs, but is not appending them to the end of my posts. Instead, I receive a message that says “Generating…”

Also, the short URLs are not being posted to Twitter. I have received the following error on my Dashboard:

Please configure YOURLS – WordPress to Twitter settings now

There are three sections here: URL Shortener Settings, Twitter Settings, and WordPress settings The first two have green checks next to them, but the second, Twitter Settings, does not appear to be configured correctly. This plug-in has worked only up until recently, and I believe I have entered my keys, tokens, and secrets correctly.

However, there is a message which appears below the boxes where the keys are entered which says:

    ———————–
Unable to connect to Twitter. Either it is temporarily down, or your webserver cannot reach it.

[button which says “Sign in with Twitter”]

Reset Twitter info? Unlink Twitter and your blog.
    ———————–

When I click the button to sign into Twitter, I’m taken to a Twitter page with this message:

    Woah there!
This page is no longer valid. It looks like someone already used the token information you provided. Please return to the site that sent you to this page and try again … it was probably an honest mistake.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

  • I am having the exact same problem. Could this be a problem with my hosting provider (BlueHost)? I have tried resetting all of the authorization tokens on the Twitter side of things.

One additional thing I noticed that may point to an underlying problem is that on my wp-admin ozh_yourls plugin page it says:

” Set Application Type to Browser
    Set Callback URL to
Set Default Access type to Read & Write

The “Set Callback URL to” has nothing after it, as if ozh_yourls does not have access to my site info. Also, the “Sign in with Twitter” button links to “http://twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=” with no token added to that URL (hence my and mspecian’s dead links)

Recently there was an issue with Twitter blocking IPs which may have factored into this, however, that was resolved as far as I know. Twitter plugins work fine for me now.

Perhaps there is a new blocking issue, or perhaps it is a separate/unrelated plugin issue.

    Yep, works fine now!

    Seemed to have resolved itself.

This issue isn’t resolved yet. There still has been no explanation for the “Generating…” issue described above.

try to create new application on twitter with read and write permission.
After that, reset all settings in YOURLS-WordPress to Twitter.
Setup all over again with new Customer and Access key/secret from your new application on Twitter
