• I really apologise if this seems to be a redundant issue that has been resolved in the past. I have searched through the forums, and the solutions I have seen have not resolved my issue.

What I am trying to do is to have a custom intro/start page that is separate from the rest of the web site’s theme.

When typing in the web domain http://www.screentestfest.org.uk/ I would like the web site to look like this: http://www.screentestfest.org.uk/home.php. After they arrive to that page, they could have the option to carry on to the web site that it currently looks like (http://www.screentestfest.org.uk)

However, I cannot create any new page that does not automatically load the theme that is currently installed. Basically, I would like visitors to click through the start page to the actual web site.

The reasoning behind this is that the festival in London is getting ready for 2012, but I would like visitors to be able to visit last year’s festival’s information.

I have tried creating a home.php to see if that would override the index.php and become the start page. That did not work.

I am not sure if I am making sense, but I really hope I am.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Take care

  • home.php should override the front page….

You can also change front page settings in the reading settings of wordpress to be a page instead of a blog feed.

home.php for some reason does not override the front page. I read in another forum post that this is a possible solution. I am not sure if there is something else I need to do to make home.php override?

Adding a new page and making that the front page in the reading settings is not a solution for me; because, each new page created is controlled by the theme. I want the home.php page to be completely unique from the rest of the web site that uses the theme.

    Thanks for replying!

If you want to use an additional page instead of home.php, you can simply create a customized template for only that page.
