Question about wp-cron.php and web stats

I’ve noticed “wp-cron.php” is the most popular page in the website statistics report for my site. I understand WordPress has a built-in cron scheduler. My question is: if wp-cron.php is showing up in the website statistics report, does this mean people are explicitly trying to access that file from the Internet? Meaning, by a URL like http://www.mysite.com/wp-cron.php.
