• After an unfortunate hack into my heavily modded blogs ~1-1/2 years ago (and apparent lapse of interest to re-do it), Ephemeral is almost ready for re-launch:

    http://dkaye.com/acuity

Totally new, based on the Tonus Theme (fabulous template) – it’s full of additional plugins and mods, including the XDforum (still tweaking layout/design for that aspect). Discovered there’s an enormous amount of time that can be spent just on the research side alone!

Would love to hear some input/criticisms. Don’t hold back – give me your true thoughts. (Note: I’m aware there are a couple of issues relative to 1) xhtml validation, and 2) problem with one of the category listings – I’m working those out.)

    Thanks!
    Kaye

  • Ilike your site a lot, nice and easy to read.

VERY cool! I like it extremely…. and your humor doesn’t hurt a bit either!

Besides my own, yours is one of the very few sites I’ve run across which use a serif font.

Thank you very much for the nice compliments. And life without humor is like, well – like life without humor. I have a category on my blog that’s called comical acts of diminished intelligence or comedi for short. These are based on actual events. Life WITH humor. =)

Heh. This the blog version of the Darwin Awards maybe? I bookmarked you to read s’more when I have a few….

Oh…. I gave up teenagers YEARS ago. My once-was-a-teenager is doing her own not-quite-14 year old now. Live long enough to laugh when they’re dealing with it themselves!

She calls (they live in Germany) with tales of woe, I say, “What do you want? Sympathy? Remember how many times I told you you’d be lucky to live to grow up?”

They say grandchildren are a parent’s greatest revenge. Remember hearing your mother/father tell you “one of these days you’re going to have children of your own – then you’ll see.” Yeah, we’re seeing! (lol)

Very pleasant theme, Kaye. Is the pagination (Pages (10): [1] 2 3 » … Last » ) supposed to be listed on every page/tab (about, contact, forum, etc.), or is that a bit of a leftover code? Congrats on your return.

They’re supposed to display on every page – it’s a pagination plug-in… WP-PageNavi. According to the documentation provided, it’s supposed to go into the footer.php – but I think I need to re-align it.

And thanks. I was relatively peeved at 1) the hack; and 2) my lack of having an updated site backup containing all files – not just database-driven. Being anal-retentive, I had usually backed up daily when doing mods, but as it was approaching the holidays, was a bit pre-occupied. So I lost all of the work I had done. And it was months’ worth of work. Kind of deflated my enthusiasm at that point.

I’m fighting the urge to allow advertising on my blog – even though I know it’d drive more potential visitors. Too much advertising and banners distract the reader from the content. If we’re designing/developing great blogs, why ruin them with an overabundance of ‘blog-spam’?
