• If you look at the blog post about the mailchimp plugin from mailchimp, in the top right, they are using the plugin but of course the layout of the plugin is completely different:
    http://blog.mailchimp.com/mailchimp-wordpress-plugin/

The form is hidden until the subscribe button is pressed and of course the style of the form buttons are completely custom.

How do they do this? Let me guess – custom CSS that targets the HTML in the widget? How about an explanation or an example, or something somehere? WTF

Without this sort of functionality the plug-in isn’t very good at all and their example is deceiving and misleading:

  • Hey NittyBitty!

Thanks for reaching out to us!

The WordPress plugin is served up to give the user total control over the end result. Essentially, we present the skeleton necessary to hold up the bulk that gets fleshed out. As it is, the WordPress plugin is somewhat basic, but with CSS and some custom styling options, you can change it’s appearance and do some pretty cool things, as you’ve noted on our blog page.

Because each site has it’s own custom CSS styling and setup, we can’t really troubleshoot that end of things. Everyone’s code on their site is proprietary and we wouldn’t be able to log in to your site to fix or code these things. Your web designer or developer would be the best contact for that kind of help. However, we can make basic suggestions and help point out certain things along the way.

You can check out some of the way that we style our plugin, here:

    http://blog.mailchimp.com/wp-content/themes/die-neue-mailchimp-blog/style.css

Essentially, what you’re going to want to do is disable the custom styling option within the plugins settings and edit the CSS for the plugin.

If setting up and coding all of the CSS isn’t your “thing”, no worries. MailChimp actually has an army of Experts who would be happy to assist you with that sort of thing. We can even help cover up to 50% of the startup costs, as well! For more information about our experts, check out this link from our site:

Do let us know if you run into a specific issue, we’ll be happy to help as much as we can on our side of things!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. No one is asking you to troubleshoot anything but your blog post from when the plug-in was first released is misleading bc the plugin doesn’t behave like your example.

Your website is a mess and you should update your blog post with more info on getting the plug in to match the look and feel of one’s theme.

I don’t need my hand held just a little direction. I think you gave me some direction and I thank you for that.
