Hi, I will try my best to explain the problem. I have installed WP using Fantastico. WP is running fine. Now I have a WP theme installed “BUT” I want to now upload an .html site with a blog instead of a full WP site. I hope this makes sense.

I bought an .html theme and I am ready to upload it. I will upload the html theme into the folder named “Public_HTML”. The Website template I bought has a page called “blog_html” and a page called “blog_post.html”. There was no .php or other files related to the blog included in the theme I bought so I hope those pages are enough.

    1. From the image, (above) can I just FTP my theme folder named “Website” into “Public_HTML”. Will the new website overide the existing theme in there? Please explain. I do not want to remove WP from “Public_HTML”.

    2. How do I or where do I put the pages named “blog_post.html” and “blog_html” in order to get the blog working?

    Thanks.

  • This is nothing to do with WordPress. You cannot use an html template or .html pages with WordPress.

I understand that. The html site has a menu item that says “blog” and I want the blog page to open when this is clicked.

You will have to create a link to your WordPress install. You cannot use an .html page with WordPress.

Hi, thanks but I am not sure what you mean. Could you please explain further.

You cannot pull WordPress posts into files called “blog_html” or “blog_post.html”.

hmmm. interesting, then I don’t know why the theme has a page named “blog.html” then if it can’t be used. The theme developer created a blog page but he didn’t give any explanation how to use it in the site. unfortnate.

Maybe I could open the blog.html page and convert it to index.php then upload this page to a free theme replacing the index.php and then upload the theme.

Because it’s not a WordPress theme.

Hello! Make sure you have linked all your pages properly or visitors will get frustrated. Make sure that all internal links to other pages on your site are clearly places where visitors will see them. Your internal links should be available on every one of your web pages so that visitors do not have to go back in order to get to where they want to go.
