• I’ve been checking out the various RSS aggregator plugins, and I have something of a legal question. (I looked around Google but couldn’t find a straight answer.)

Version 1: Is it okay (with Google) to run a page on my blog aggregating some of their Google News feeds (come custom ones, in my case)?

Version 2: Is it then okay (with Google) to run Adsense on that page?

I have a topic-based blog, and I’d like to provide my readers with topic-based news on a side page. I’d like it even more if I could display Adsense on that page, since I think it will get a goodly amount of hits. 😉

  • Only Google can answer this.

Anybody have some opinions on this? Looks like Google takes a week or two to answer questions like this, and I figure someone here has been down this road before.

Technically, and this is only “technically”, many companies find it illegal to link to their pages, and some don’t like Google indexing their news. I think this is ridiculous since the entire point of the Web is “linking”, but there have been court cases in the past about this.

I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice, but if I were in this position I would go ahead and aggregate, but pay attention to any warnings and news surrounding this type of stuff.

I’ve never had google or adsense take more than a day to answer an email. I suggest you simply email them and ask.
