• Hi,
this is probably a basic question, but I can’t find the answer anywhere. When I use a plugin like NextGen gallery or a video plugin, after I attach the gallery to the post, the shortcode appears in the post.
It looks fine in the Visual window, and the shortcode is only visible in html mode, but when I upload the post the code appears in the post text.
Could anyone help me to fix this?
    Thanks

    [No bumping, please.]

  • If you’re using the shortcode on it’s own, such as [gallery], then it needs to be in the ‘Visual’ view in the editor. If you’re going to use it in either the ‘HTML’ view or in the template file itself, you need to wrap it in PHP tags.

Have a look at the Gallery Shortcode codex page for more information.

Edit: To be honest, I’m not sure if the PHP tags will work under the HTML tab in the editor.. But if you’re not going to be editing the template files, then it’s easier to just add it in the content you’ve got in the Visual tab.
