Support » Fixing WordPress » Pages with same permalinks are messed up

  • I searched through a lot of threads about permalinks and pages, but this is something new.
When I create a new page that has the same title as an other, already existing page, it gets the same slug, and the content of the new page gets added to the older page. Both pages have a different mother page, though, but I also tested it with pages without mother pages: while posts get automatically altered permalinks when they’re given a title that already exists (../postname automatically becomes ../postname-2), this is not the case with pages. Why? Is this simply a bug? Is there a plugin or hack for this?

  • Probably nobody thought of different pages having the same title. Giving different articles ( or pages ) the same title wouldn’t be too common, as it’d be confusing not only for the automata, but for human readers as well.

I believe you could edit/re-post a page and give it another slug to solve the problem.

Yeah, I know, it seems there is no other way. Thanks.
