• Hello.

I work with a hosting provider.

We do not install or maintain WordPress ourselves, but we permit our customers to install the software. As such, we do not have access to login as the customer’s WP admin, but we do have access to the files, which are stored on our servers.

In version 3.1.x and earlier, we could perform a quick-and-dirty check for whether our customers were running a secure, non-exploitable version by parsing the following file:

    wp-includes/version.php

In version 3.2, this file does not exist, and I see no clear candidate that will always be present in a WP installation.

How do I check whether our customers are up to date?

    Regards, Jan
