• I’m don’t intend wasting your time or mine. However beautiful it is, ‘The Famous Five Minute’ installation guide doesn’t work.
    1. The unzipped files don’t all upload to my webhost succesfully.
    2. The URL to generate unique passwords/codes to set up the MySQL Db does not work (I used Notepad as a text editor and IE as a browser).
    3. The installation php document.. Yes, you guessed it.. Doesn’t display in the browser.
    4. In consequence of the twenty minutes plus I’ve now wasted, I have deleted all WordPress files and will move on to find another, less complicated, better documented and most importantly a blogg system that actually works!

  • 1. The first problem isn’t a wordpress problem. Bad file transfers happen all the time. If you haven’t at least tried to solve this by uploading again, then there’s no reason to expect the subsequent steps to work.

    2. the URL is not meant to set up MySQL Db.

    3. your webhost must support php.

    4. I wish you all the best.

Does your web host provide an application called Fantastico ?

If so, then give it a try – it’s very quick & easy.

With my hosting provider, you just log into your hosting account, then go to Fantastico & select WordPress. All you have to do is choose a username & password, and a folder name (the folder is then created for you). Dead easy.

WordPress installation is extremely simple if you have even the barest knowledge of FTP, file structure, etc. Why would you be rude to US because you obviously don’t and didn’t bother to do some research?

-try contacting the hosting provider if they have any other problem at their end, or if there are any limitations/restrictions, etc . Also check with them if you need to upgrade the hosting account in order to install and run your verson of the WordPress.
