Go to dashboard/settings/general. Put a www in the wordpress address.
still having this issue. thought it might e the server, but not having this isssue with other WP sites on the same server/hosting account. Hmm….!
thanks kmessinger, trying that now…
ummm – that change bumped me out, now I can’t get into site at all!
It the WordPress url reads http://www.yoursite.com there is no reason it would bump you out.
Did you change the site address?
My site worked for years without the www, so not sure why I needed to change it now, but I went ahead and did the change you suggested, and now I can’t get back in at all. the site address has not changed.
I’ll have to edit it in the PHP files. Thanks.
Same for me until some time ago. The problem occurs only in FF, Safari and Chrome, not in IE. You can get in (another symptom) by using the lost password feature but that only works one time.
This was tested with 3 sites in IE, FF and Chrome and has worked as a fix for numerous people. I don’t know why it would not for you.
Well I am having the problem in IE too.
Did you mean to add the www. in both the Site URL and the WOrdPress URL, or just the WordPRess URL?
Just the wp url.
But having the problem in IE is not what I experienced.
[Edit] Another characteristic, you can ususally log in from login.php instead of wp-admin.
i’m in, thanks again km, i appreciete you were trying to help. not sure about this www change, it is not the solution for me, and seems to make it buggier.
I can’t move anywhere within the dashboard without going to re-login, and sometimes I have to login twice. I have tried turning off all plugins, physically removing all plugins, changing the theme, etc.
Anyone else have an idea?
Delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folder. Download a fresh copy of 3.1.3. Put new wp-admin and wp-includes folders on the server. Be careful NOT to delete wp-contents.
