Add the following directives directly to your configuration file

Actually, the whole quote is:

“Add the following directives to your .htaccess file or if there are several hundred they should be added directly to your configuration file”

But which configuration file. I assumed it was the w3-total-cache-config.php But when I added all my directives, my site disappeared (as in, the page was all white). Where do I add it, and is there some special code I need to put before or after I add all the directive? There’s tons of them.
