  • The stock is only reduced after a successful purchase, so if the order remain in pending then that would be why.

Hiding the quantity field isn’t that easy, but it could be done via CSS.

Cheers. I will look into that.

Looking at the PayPal Sandbox accounts I made (manual for Business me the Seller and Preconfigured for Customer) I noticed that the customer showed the order, with items listed but payment “Unclaimed”. In the Business Seller account the overview was blank with no indication of a payment. I tried some of the settings but the sandbox version of an account had links to pages that were 404. I am guessing in a real world non-testing scenario that all the dots get joined up properly.

I will get back to you and let you know how I am getting on.

Ok I have checked out a few things.

Firstly I have to say that Paypal sand box is a right mess. It is half baked. You can’t confirm emails because sandbox doesn’t actually send confirmation emails (problem well documented online). Because of this you can get permission to configure the PayPal sandbox properly. Testing payments get sent from customer to seller but the seller has to accept payments, which can’t be done without the email being confirmed.

For a multinational that has so much money you would think that PayPal could get this right. Overall their website is a mess in terms of layout and design.

That being said I am not sure if any of the sand box issues has anything to do with anything back at the eSop side of things. The order are still in Pending. But if I change an order from Pending to shipped. It still does not remove the Add to cart and replace it with No Stock available.

I would really like to use eShop as I have already done all the css styling

I have looked at the market press plugin and it does reduce the stock as unavailable for unique items once they go into the shopping basket. The problem with this type of cart is that all the product inventory has to be created whereas I am looking for something like eShop that adds custom fields to already existing posts/pages.

    Any suggestions appreciated

All together now…oh, yes it does!
You have to set up a real mail box (or forwarder) for your sandbox emails.

With regard to your stock issues, it does work in eShop. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

OK your right. I found the test email link in Sandbox right under me nose and found the emails there. But your talking about a real mail box or forwarder.

I am using Twenty Ten (heavily modified in terms of design) on the localhost copy of the site that I want to ultimately use eShop cart on and Twenty Ten (no modifications and only one plugin, eShop) on the Testcart site I created at: http://thegoddessroom.net/testcart/

It must have something to do with the way I have set it up. I will eventually get it to work… i am sure…. somtime…. in the future….. maybe? 🙂

    Hi Rich Elfin, Esmi,

I have to park my work on shopping carts for a few days while I peruse some other jobs.

In the meantime I am determined to crack the auto stock levels issue I am having. Being a bit fuzzy, and looking for clarification, orders and transactions must follow a certain stepped order.

If, over the next few days you get a chance, can you clarify the outline in what happens. For example:

    1. Customer fills cart.
    2. Checksout
    3. Passed to PayPal and Pays.
    4. PayPal sends info/trigger back to site to confirm payment has been paid.
5 Order goes from pending to verified
    6. Stock level drops on each item order, if 0 “Out of stock level” appears

Is this correct? and are there variations i.e.:
Seller has to log into PayPal and do something?
Sandbox doesn’t push info back to site?
IPN Instant Payment Notifications. Are these part of the process/triggers to deal with the orders being processed in the eShop plugin.
Do I have to change the status of an order manually in the dashboard, and if so, to which heading. i.e Active? Is that supposed to reduce the stock levels and from 1 to 0 remove the add to cart button from the item post?

    Cheers in advance

you are correct with those 6 steps.

    IPN is all done automatically.
Changing where the orders are in the backend doesn’t affect stock levels at all.

    Hi Elfin Esmi.

Great news. Got back to working on the cart plugin after several weeks on other jobs and configured it to work. Anybody having issues with the IPN and Stock control/no stock available (PayPal) should follow the setup and configuration instruction given by the developers of eShop at this link:

    http://quirm.net/wiki/eshop/setting-up-merchant-gateways/paypal/

All ducks must be in a row.
