• I installed the plugin on my blog today itself and enabled the caching functionality. However within few hours I was warned by my host that the wp_relevanssi_cache was using around 1GB of Database space! I was shocked after reading that email.

The web host has specifically told me to deactivate the plugin and stay away from it as it looked ‘messy’.

I was happy to finally find a true replacement of default wordpress search but then this happened.

    Any solution?

Disable the cache. It’s not necessary or even useful in most cases. I never use it myself. I should probably add some kind of a warning to it.

How the cache can take a GB of database space within just few hours is a bit of a mystery to me, do people search your blog a lot? The cache is purged once a day by default to prevent it from getting bloated.

Relevanssi has over 60k downloads and fairly good ratings in the plugin repository, so it’s not a huge problem for most folks. It’s still the best replacement for WordPress search I’ve seen so far. Do give it another go without the cache.

Search tagging plugin makes the most use of search function. So yeah, search is frequently used.

And I made the plugin clear cache once in 2 days unaware of the fact that this might happen.

I do understand and respect relevanssi as a plugin and its usefullness but I cannot be a trouble for my webhost anymore. Can you assure that the same issue will not arise after disabling cache?

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂

Yes, if you disable the cache, nothing gets written in the cache database table. That problem will 100% certainly go away.

Alright then. I’ll give it a shot. This plugin is too good to ignore 🙂
