Should input boxes always have percentages for widths?

    I’ve heavily modified a theme and am trying to understand why they only used percentages for the width on comment input boxes, and both percentages and fixed width (pixels) for the contact form. This is creating some problems for me in terms of making the widths consistent. In other words, I want the input boxes on my contact form and my comments input boxes to be identical. Any thoughts on this?
