• I just downloaded and installed RC2, and I still seem to be lacking trackbacks and pings. Was this one of the issues that RC2 was meant to address?
Also, I was wondering if there might be any settings I would need to change upgrading from the previous release. Do I perhaps need to replace my old index.php from 1.20d with the new one (or make any changes to the existing index)? Does the .htaccess need any changes? Are there any files that need their permissions changed that aren’t included in the documention already?
I’m loving WP1.2 so far. If I could just get trackbacks running, I’d be in heaven. 🙂 Thanks!

I found some problems with trackback to be specific to the server you try to trackback to. Trackback to other WordPress sites works, but trackback to for example topicexchange.com topics doesn’t.

I’ve tried sending trackbacks to other WP sites with RC2, and I’m still not having any luck. Are others still having trouble with this in the latest build?

I have tried trackbacks with a b2evo-blog and pings to blo.gs and weblogs.com. Neither of it worked (the same with RC1) 🙁

    Prara,
Thanks for pinging the article. So, it looks like I’m receiving trackbacks after all. I’m still not able to send them successfully, though. Could there be anything held over from an older index.php that might be causing the problem?

Oh, and I should mention that I’m not having any trouble pinging the update services. The only thing that seems to be broken is sending trackbacks.

@jess: the only file I have taken over from RC1 is wp-config.php all other files are from RC2.
Trackbacking your post worked though …

    Thanks, Romulus!
It definitely looks like I’m receiving trackbacks, but I tried tracking you back in return, and it still isn’t working. I replaced my old index.php with the RC2 version, and that didn’t help either. The only hold-over files I have are wp-config.php and the CSS file. The problem couldn’t be there, could it?
Also, is it possible I have some permissions messed up somewhere on my install?

Okay…even stranger. I installed another instance of RC2 fresh and it *can* send trackbacks.
The only differences between the two installs is different CSS, a slightly altered index.php, the directory structure, and the .htaccess file. Could one of those be the culprit?

My trackbacks are working, but not pingbacks. However, since I’m testing between two WordPress blogs, I’m not sure whether it’s SENDING or RECEIVING pingbacks that is broken… ???

I’m just a WP-newbie – but I’m playing around with the latest RC – I tried to send a trackback ping from my MT install to my WP test area (I’m going to be moving over to WP as soon as 1.2 is stable). However, WP doesn’t seem to be taking the pings…? Will pings only work between WP blogs? or should it be able to take a MT ping? (Sorry if this isn’t the right place for this)
