Do you have any plugins that may affect this?
Which page is showing this? The network admin page or something else?

The network admin page, just under the title DASHBOARD where it says
"Right Now"
Create a New Site | Create a New User
You have x sites and x users.
the numbers are not correct. i tried clearing my browser cache, and started a new session, the numbers moved up, but still not updating in real time. I am using firefox 4
i dont have many plugins installed yet, only default blog setting, tiny-mce advanced and wptouch
Are all the sites and users active?

yes they are all active. i adding users and sites from the dashboard. finally upgrading from wpmu2.7 some 170 sites and users (manually…..;-) )
Hi,
I got the exact same problem.
I have update to 3.1.4 manually, then added 20 new users and 20 new sites (sub-domains).
But the counter didn’t update the numbers. and worse then that, searching for the newly added sub-domain(s), WP tells me they are not exist.
(Running a search for the new Users, WP do find them)
While looking to the DB with PHP My Admin, I can see that WP actually created the tables for the new sites in the DB.
Any ideas for the right direction?
Thanks,
Amit
Start disabling plugins – especially ones relating to users.
I have disabled plugins and I can see the numbers of sites and users are up by 20.
But I have run a test, searching for sites and still Search results: No sites found.
This is a major problem!
Any ideas?
That’s a different issue. The search for sites works a little differently.
Go to Network Admin -> Sites. Do you see a listing of sites?
Did you find the cause of this? I’m experiencing the same problem: I have 3 blogs in a multisite network but the dashboard says I only have 1.
Are you the admin on ALL those sites?
Did you disable every single plugin?
On my PC, Yes. I don’t want to mess with my live environment too much.
I also renamed the plugin folder, deleted the plugins in the mu-plugins folder and deleted sunrise.php from the wp-content folder. Then I cleared my browser cache and rebooted my server.
After all that, the number of sites is still wrong!
And you are looking at the network dashboard?
