I am attempting to validate my site with w3c validation service and it appears that the commenting system in wordpress is not XHTML Valid. Errors only appear when comments are enabled.

To check the error for yourself you can go here: http://magickandme.co.uk/about/ and click the w3c validator button at the bottom.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thank you

I didn’t see any errors for comments.

The two errors are most likely coming from your theme, iblogpro. You can check that by switching to twentyten theme and validating.

This actually throws up more error. I have validated pages without comments active. It appears to only show invalid results when comments enabled.

I will post this error on the pagelines website also.

    Thanks

Correct. The default comment form uses HTML 5.

It’s pretty easy to fix. Just create your own custom comment form via custom arguments for comment_form. That said, those 2 role attributes aren’t going to cause any harm.

If they are the only 2 errors on your Pages, I really wouldn’t worry about it. They are not going to cause problems for any user and really only demonstrate that dumb software parsers are just that – dumb. 🙂
