    Hi,

    I have installed eShop, uploaded my files, created my products, attaching the uploads to them and listed them on an eShop page. All good and seems to work until I actually tested it by buying one.

    It all went through OK, I got charged and paid but I never received the link to the eBook I had ordered! Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong please?

    emails are sent out after a successful purchase, is the order still pending?

    Yes it is under pending and under the Transaction ID it says processing.

    the email sent to the admin at the time of the purchase will have a clue as to why it was not successful.

    Hi,

    The only email I received was the payment notification from PayPal which doesn’t seem to hold any clue about the download.

    Have I missed something out in the set up?

    I am a newbie at WordPress and I admit to struggling with all more than a bit.

    if everything works correctly, whether the purchase is accepted or not, then the admin should get a copy of the transaction via email. that does need to be sorted out before anything else.

    Try deactivating all other plugins, and change theme to twenty ten and test again.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that. I use the Twenty Ten theme anyway. Is there no other way than deactivating everything. It has taken me ages to get this all set up and sorted being such a newbie and I admit it scares the hell out of me! Is there nothing else please? Sorry to be a pain.

    you need to rule them out of the equation, what plugins do you have?

    Hi there,

    I’m having a very similar problem, so thought I’d put in my details too. I’m running eShop on a very new install, only running a few other plugins. On making a purchase though, no email comes through to me, the admin, from eShop, and the purchases stay as pending. I know the payment has gone through as Paypal have sent me a confirmation email, and Paypal redirects me back to the thankyou page, but it still will never send me an email, or allow the user to automatically download the file purchased.

    I disabled all plugins as suggested, but still the same problem I’m afraid. Happy to create you a guest admin account if you’d like to have a look for bugfixing purposes.

    Really? I thought I was providing more data on the problem – surely that’s of help to both users if we can provide more information on the same problem?

    Apologies if I stepped out of line, but it seemed silly to start a new thread on exactly the same issue.

    are you using the same theme? the same plugins? on the same server? with the same type of paypal account?

    Ok, obviously I’ve hit a nerve here while just trying to contribute. I wasn’t trying to prevent Sophie attaining a solution to her problem – I simply thought that these were open forums to attempt to bug-fix common problems.

    Don’t let me step on your toes guys, carry on and I’ll simply watch with interest to see if you come up with a solution.

    It’s a common misconception that having a similar error is the same, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t.

    Without the admin email being sent out, I can do nothing to help as the issue could be a myriad of things including:
    paypal not contacting your site – they can take 4 days
    your server blocking blocking functionality and/or paypal
    another plugin, like bad behaviour, will stop paypal ever contacting your site.

    or even an incorrect download of WordPress/eShop.

    Your issue may be quite different to the OP’s. So adding your feedback to this topic just ends up muddying the waters. It’s also extremely difficult to try and deal with multiple posters in the same thread simultaneously. That’s why we ask people to please, please, don’t assume that just because your issue is similar, it has the same root cause. Start a new topic instead and, if it is tagged with eshop we will respond.

    Thanks for the clarification, that makes a lot of sense.

    I’ll start a new thread – would have been happy to straight away, but I thought the first couple of responses were a little terse, apologies.
