I created one map on the Contact page of a website that has been working fine for a while. Recently a copy of that map started showing up in the right sidebar also – which I do NOT want.

I am using Super Post/Pages widgets to display some content from the blog posts in the sidebar, and none of those posts have a map inserted in them.

If I delete the map altogether, it does disappear from the sidebar as well as the Contact page (where I inserted it). I tried upgrading the Map Press plugin and then recreating the map and the same thing is happening.

    Any advice?

Hi, if you have set the option in the MapPress settings to automatically display maps, the plugin will try to display them whenever a post is shown. Some other plugins and templates request post excerpts in such a way that MapPress can’t tell if it’s a full post or an excerpt, so it displays the map.

One solution is to turn off the automatic display and instead put the [mappress] shortcode in posts that have maps.

Thank you for the prompt reply! I have toggled that under Settings “no automatic display” and that did the trick. Resolved.

    Hi

I have been having this problem lately and the automatic display setting is marked as “no automatic display”

    Any other solutions?

Oh just realised that this needs to be set for every separate site on a multisite setup – now it works
