I updated my blogs to 3.1.1 today, and now have serious problems. The upgrade seemed to go well, and no error messages were displayed. The front end of the blog seems to display fine, view it here: http://nanaimotoyrun.org
I now can not edit a published page. The visual editor does not even display in IE9, but does in Firefox 3.6.16 and Chrome. After a one line edit, when I try to update the page in either Firefox or Chrome, the following error message is displayed:

    406 Not Acceptable

    Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Has anybody got any suggestions? I have five other blogs that seem to have the same problem.

I have also found that permalinks do not work in any mode except “default”. If I try to select any of the custom permalink selections, the page automatically returns to default permalinks selected.

I am also having the same issue after upgrading. Specifically, I’m unable to include any photos/media in my blog posts. I’m able to post directly to my blog from flickr, but I’m not able to post photos (either a link to flickr or directly from the wordpress media).

    Who is your host?

justhost. I just saw that others on justhost are also having problems. Do I need to report to them as well, or are they working on the problem for all?

madmaison – I read the same as you. I think you should log it with them to make sure you are helped.

beattle – unless you use justhost, disable all plugins and switch to twentyten theme and see if it works.

My site is on justhost, the sites are twentyten theme, and it makes no difference whether the plugins are enabled or not.

This is also being discussed here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/lots-of-issues-after-311-upgrade-namely-404-pages-on-saveinsertetc?replies=20.

You’ll see there after I chatted with Justhost last night they fixed the problem for my site. I’m wondering if there are folks who have seen improvement without explicitly telling justhost about their site.

It is now 10 hours since my first post, and justhost must of had some complaints, although I did not contact them. The permalinks are now working, and I can edit my pages using Firefox. The visual editor still doesn’t seem to work with IE9.

JustHost here too. Seems to be fixed, but I’ll have to test it out a little later. Glad to see it fixed so fast!!
