[Plugin: W3 Total Cache] havving trouble with cache preload with iis

    Howdy All –

    I am having issue with the cache preload on a iis server, running on windows 2008 r1, iis 7. Cache Preload is set to do it via a good sitemap every 5 minutes – there isn’t any cpu activity during the time range – the page still has to be built, and there aren’t any caches showing in the directory:
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DIR\wordpress\wp-content\w3tc\pgcache

    Concerned with the cron job, the plugin Cron Gui – reports that it is firing off when scheduled. I can’ find any log files for the cron error report – or any log files for the Cache Preload to verify it is working.

    I have tried several ways to represent the url to the sitemap – localhost, 127.0.0.1, still not triggering any activity.

    Would love the feature – the site doesn’t have a lot of traffic any would love the pages to load primed.

    Any ideas?

    how do you verify if the priming is operating or not – is there a log – a location – something to look for in the created html doc?

    Make sure that plugins and other folders are writable

    yah – they are writable – when it writes a regular page to disk, that is able to be done correctly

    we created the sitemap through another piece of software – and that resulted in the prime cache not working – we tried it through the google xml sitemap plugin – and it is now working as expected.

    the trick on the google xml software was to set the files as writable by the iusr in the file security settings

    Priming requires WP Cron events to occur in order to start. If your site is not getting significant traffic or has all of it’s pages cached the WP Cron events won’t happen unless you’re working in WP Admin. Are you using disk basic page caching?

    we are using the wincache with the update – but are still having the page cache hit or miss. i put in a wpcron plugin – and it shows that it is running – or scheduled to run – but frederick you are right – it generally doesn’t seem to run consistently. is there a way to ensure that the page cache runs?

    the site is rather complicated and takes about 7 seconds to load without wp-cache and about 2 with – so having page cache running all the time would be a life saver

    You can set up an Operating System cron to make WP Cron work.
