Support » Plugins » [Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Jetpack is NOT working on posts & pages

  • I don’t know how (I looked at the code in modules/stats.php) but I’ve encountered two different problems:

    1. Visits to posts and pages are not counted by Jetpack’s Stats system. (The JS code doesn’t show up in the footer.)
    2. Visits to archive pages (category pages, tag pages etc.) are counted as “Home Page”.

I checked, there’s no problem with my wp_footer in singular pages. So what’s the problem?

PS: I also (kinda) hated the Jetpack plugin and couldn’t revert to the original WordPress.com Stats plugin; it says that my WP.com account doesn’t have the rights to access my hosted blog’s stats bla bla bla… Is that plugin also going to be updated? I disabled the other modules except Stats in Jetpack anyways.

PPS: Yeah, I enabled all of them just to check if the two problems above to be solved. They don’t.

I am experiencing the same situation, Jetpack stats is not counting visits to my posts, and pages.

I am also frustrated that once you go with Jetpack you can go back to the WP Stats plugin.

Are you logged into your WordPress account while you’re checking this? By default stats are not currently counted for logged in users.

This will probably change in a future version to avoid confusion, but you can change that option by clicking the Configure button for the stats module under the Jetpack admin page.

@beau; come on, of course I am logged in 🙂 and I set the options to count me while I’m logged in, too. Even if I’m not, how could you explain that NO STATS are recorded in ANY posts/pages EXCEPT the home page? Everyone couldn’t be logged in with my account, right? 🙂

@kommix this sounds like a problem where the stats aren’t being hooked into the output of your page properly (something to do with your theme).

Does your theme definitely call the wp_head and wp_footer actions on your Page/Post template files? What’s the URL for your website?

YES, of course Beau 🙂 wp_head and wp_footer works perfectly fine EVERYWHERE. If it didn’t, the homepage wouldn’t be counted, right?

As you can see, homepage loads the JS but singular pages (posts and pages) fail to load the JS. Other plugins (like Cookies for Comments) works fine and loads content in every page.

Looking at the quantity and variety of problems, I think it’s safe to say that the initial release of Jetpack is just horrible. They should have just updated WordPress.com Stats and TEST MORE.

Kommix – Any possibility of having you try systematically disabling other plugins (besides Jetpack) to see if one of them is interfering with Jetpack on pages/posts? It’s possible (just a theory here) because of the way that Jetpack tries to play nicely with other plugins, and gives them priority over itself, that some other plugin is outputting the footer prematurely (before Jetpack ever gets a chance to hook in).

p.s. – I think it’s even safer to say the release of Jetpack is awesome, and will only get more-so. 🙂

I was going to but the v1.1.1 update brought back the stats. Thank God (and the developers).

@geggiot: so what isn’t working exactly? Perhaps you can provide some more information and/or a link to your site?
