As this is a add on domain name http://www.ihopeyoudontmakeit.com
you should have folder and that where you need to install wordpress and when you install make sure you use some other prefix for your database tables.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I do have a folder on my server on the same level as my ‘www’ folder called ‘ihopeyoudontmakeit’
I have uploaded the blog files to there, but in order to complete the installation the WP read me tells me to pull up: http://www.ihopeyoudontmakeit.com/wp-admin/install.php
I’m not sure what it means to use another prefix for my database tables. Would you mind explaining that? Or directing me to a place where I can learn more. So frustrating, i’ve been at this since this morning.
Again, I appreciate your help!
Have you checked if the add on domain name directed to ihopeyoudontmakeit folder
As for prefix that come when you create a wp-config.php file

It is directed to that folder.
Where would I find the prefix(es)? I’ve set up several blogs and never dealt with this.
Prefix is changed when you create the wp-config.php file the default is wp_
what is permission on ihopeyoudontmakeit on this folder.
Did you change DNS ate registrar to point to 1&1 host.

Gosh… I’m not sure what you mean here.
I do now see further down in the config file where it says $table_prefix = ‘wp_’;’
How do I find the permission on the ihopeyoudontmake it? Value 755? Is that the number youre inquiring about? Also I’m not sure what the last question is? So sorry.
What should I change the prefix to?
Where did you buy the domain name as you need to change DNS to Point to a host server.
Seems strange when you type in your URL, http://www.ihopeyoudontmakeit.com,
it redirects to: http://www.erinjackson.net/blog. I would think if WP was not installed it should just error or time out.
As far as prefixes are concerned, if you are going to use a new database you won’t have to worry about it. Otherwise if you are using a database that already has a wordpress installation, you’ll need to change teh prefix from wp_ to something else. I would use a new db if you’re hosting package allows that.

Ignore DNS as I just checked and it is pointing to this server
nserver: ns51.1and1.com 74.208.2.8
nserver: ns52.1and1.com 74.208.3.7
Looks like you got it working
