list posts as links on main index?

Hopefully this post wont be confused as spam do the the hyperlinks, but they go nowhere as I used the # in them, I just wanted to give an example of how they would be links.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to list posts (in order of submission) on the main index page just as a title linking to the post, as I’m trying to make a news site using wordpress. It would be a virtical setup like this:

Most recent headline
2nd most recent headline
3rd most recent headline
4th most recent headline
ect…
ect…
ect…
