Some loser screwed up the webhost’s servers… He replaced every file named “index.php” with his own… I lost my index page for my site and have no backup that I can find that will work. I have deleted his page obivously and it appears that I can access most of the admin sections of the WP install, minus the wp-admin/index.php… How do I regenerate these without losing all my stuff? I have nearly 1000 posts from the past 5 years I really don’t want to give all this up because of some script kiddie…

  • Can’t you just download a fresh copy of the WP files?

That’s just it, I have no idea what I’m doing in that regard… I just use WP… I’ve never gotten that deep into it… any help would be appreciated.

So, who installed Wp for you?
Anyway, on this page see at the top right: Download.
Download the .zip package and unzip it.
Then using your FTP client upload the missing index file(s).

Thanks! That worked perfectly. I installed Wp myself, but only with the help of Fantastico via cPanel. I didn’t realize that the index.php files were able to be interchanged like that. Thanks so much for all your help.
