• Hello!

I recently upgraded automatically and after that happened all these problems started surfacing! I cannot see my blog page nor my admin page to log in!

http://www.suska.ca is my website – and you can see if you click on blog it goes white,
    http://www.suska.ca/wp-admin/ is also no go!

Yes I googled around – disabled my whole plugins folder (which is why most of the stuff on my site doesn’t work – like the contact form and page excluder etc). I also reinstalled version 3.0.2 back. When I disable my theme my guess it reverts to the standard wordpress theme which is a blog in itself and it also goes blank!

So I feel it has something to do with the actual blog page and the entries – as my pages show up fine!

I head some talk about editing the functions.php but Im not really sure what to do with it – im not THAT savy and don’t really know what I’m looking for there.

Anyone have this problem? Can anyone guide me in the right direction? I spent so much time customizing and updating my site/blog for it to go to waste!!

    Thank you!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the memory available to PHP?

    hi Esmi!

    Yes I have:
    – Deactived all plugins using PHPmyAdmin
    – Re-uploaded fresh batch of wordpress and replaced old one
    – Increased memory by adding define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’); to wp-config file (I dont know where the ini.php or httpacesss files are to play with those)

I dont know how to switch to a different theme bc I do now have access to the back end… any help on this step so I can try it out?

    Much appreciated!

I’m having the same problem. I’ve uninstalled WordPress and reinstalled at least five times to start from scratch and I still have the same problem.
I can see the 2 default themes (1.6 and classic) just fine (and switch between them) but when I try to add a new theme (I’ve tried a number of them from different sources, all the same result) and activate it, everything goes white, including the admin page. I then have to uninstall and reinstall all over again.
I assume something that is corrupted isn’t getting removed when I uninstall but haven’t a clue as to how to fix it.
Pretty frustrating. WordPress 1.6 never gave me problems and themes uploaded fine.
    Help?

Esmi: How on earth do I deactivate my plugins? Or do all those other steps? It’s just crazy because any ordinary laymen won’t even know where to start! I am certainly no expert when it comes to this kind of thing.

P.S I am using Host Gator if that helps……tried browsing around my control panel and the FTP but I still don’t know what to do!

@suzanka: Try switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to access /wp-login.php to get this to kick in fully.

If you remove or rename the “wp-content” directory, then your homepage won’t show up at all. Just a white screen with no data (even the source page is completely blank with absolutely no html tags). You might want to check if this directory is in the wordpress root directory (where your wordpress files are served from).
On another note, I’m not sure this is the same problem, but my post doesn’t show up at all when I exceed a certain number of characters, or words.
    I have tried:

    1. Deactivating all plugins
    2. Testing the same blog posts on different wordpress sites (same webhost, different domains – both using 3.0.4)
    3. Installing a fresh version of wordpress on a different server (I installed 3.1-RC3 on a Windows server)
    4. Using the default TwentyTen theme
    5. everything else I could think of

In all cases, the blog post (just the blog content, but all widgets and sidebars are rendered correctly) doesn’t show up.
I’m wondering if someone can drop the following post into their wordpress site and tell me if it works for them:

    Can anyone confirm this?

So what do I rename my current theme to? Just anything and it will automatically revert to the TwentyTen theme? I tried that before… :/ Any other suggestions?
