Header size and background color

    I need to solve two problems of my blog regarding header.

    The header looks bigger and I noticed it when I changed the background color. The header’s color purple and it makes easy to see that header’s size is too big. I need to make it smaller but I can’t find the codes.
    The second problem is the color itself. I’d like to make the color of header’s background (which is purple) lighter color but again I can’t find the code of it in order to make the whole page the same color.
    Please, advice how can I solve those problems?
