    – I personally think it’s just a lack of contrast in the color scheme that makes it feel a little bland.

    – I would suggest restricting the content to about 80% of the page-width rather than let it sprawl like this from end to end.

    – And I’m overwhelmed by the activity in the footer area.

    I think you are right, especially about the lack of contrast. I made a few changes, mainly the link color. It seems to liven it up more.

    Not sure about the 80% content width idea though. I’ve wondered why blog content widths tend to be narrower than regular site content widths.
