• Once I log into the admin, it takes me to my dashboard. However, I have minimal on my dashboard. I have abosoltuely no modules (Right Now, Recent Comments, Quick Press, Recent Drafts, WordPress Development Blog, Plugins etc). Also, the only tabs I have located on the left are Posts, Media, Pages, and Contact. I am missing the “Links” and “Comments” tab here. My dashboard is also missing the rest of the tabs (Appearances, Plugins, Users, Tools, and Settings). I am new to WordPress and need to know how to get the rest of my dashboard.

    Screenshot?

And do you have any plugins installed?

Since I was not familiar with WordPress and needed a website built, I paid someone else to create a WordPress site for me. He recently gave me the admin login to the dashboard. When I log in, the ONLY thing showing on my dashboard are the following tabs located to the left: Posts, Media, Pages, Contact. The rest of the screen under “Dashboard” where the modules such as “Right Now” are suppose to be is completely blank. There is absolutely nothing else on my screen. I was trying to show you a screenshot, but obviously need some guidance to upload it. I simply cannot copy and paste it in this reply. (I am trying to learn everything about WordPress now as fast as I can!)

When he built the site, it is obvious he used plugins for some of the features he included on the site. One example, is the gallery slideshow plugin.

If you could let me know how to send you a screenshot, or hopefully this gives you a better idea as to what I’m looking at when I log into my dashboard.

Are you sure you have full admin status?

I was told I have admin access by the person that set up my site. When I log in, I have my company name and below it, “Administrator Login.” My user name is “editor.” I am supoose to have full and complete control of the site.

Is there any chance your site developer decided not to show any of those modules under ‘screen options’ (link on the top right hand corner of your admin screen)? Check that to see what’s selected and what isn’t.

When I click on “Show on Screen” this is what appears..

    Show on screen
    -Welcome To Your Website Editor

    Screen Layout
    Number of Columns: 1 2 3 4

The “Welcome To Your Website Editor” is very basic Q&A since I am new to WordPress. When I click on the different columns, nothing appears.

What plugins are installed? Some kind of white label CMS plugin maybe? Your developer may have added a plugin to remove all extraneous info from the dashboard (can be useful sometimes so that clients don’t get confused by all the extra stuff).

I don’t know what plugins were installed. I find it hard to believe that one was added to limit my access since this person knew I was going to add plunins myself. (I am missing the “Plugin” tab.) I am suppose to have full access now that the site is complete. Is there a way I can recover the rest of my dashboard?

Have you asked your developer why it’s like this to see if it’s something he did?

    (@hunbia)

I did, but I don’t know if he will be of any help. This is frustrating since I paid for the work to be done, and it was made very clear that I would have complete control of the site, and now I can’t do anything with it. I am still trying to get an answer, but don’t know if it will get me anywhere.

If you don’t have access to Plugins or the Appearance menus, then it does sounds as if you only have Editor status. If that is the case, it can be corrected but it would mean editing the database directly.

You are correct. I just realized I dont have admin access. I now have another issue to deal with. Thanks everyone for your help!
