    copied my files as instructed in Codex took backup of SQL database, created new database in new server, dumped the data and copied over my WP files finally i edited the wp-config.php now I get this.. I’m not a NooB but probably had not much sleep and can’t think through this now (enough pain with DNS and moving my other 3 domains) :))

    “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.”

    any ideas how to fix this or what could be causing it?

    Is the table prefix in wp-config the same as that in the database tables ? Have you definitely checked ?

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr run the install.php (being inpatient that I am) and now I’ve got a vanilla WP :))) excellent

    my plug-ins and thems are fine but all my posts/categories are gone(!)… any ideas on how to recover apart from using the old SQL backup?

    ok issue resolved – my 10th espresso is sinking in… thank god for WP_Backup i had a dump of my sql emailed to myself 1h ago on gmail so went to phpMyAdmin dropped all the wp_* tables and loaded the backup… works like a charm now…
