Force user to chose Categories in registration

Hello,
sorry for my english but ‘im italian. My blog talks about a lot of topic, so i’m going to use Multi Site with sub-domains, but my idea is that in home page all recent posts by all categories are shown. But, for have a “personal home page”, user should choose category in registration.

is this possible?
