Support » Plugin: Posts Viewed Recently » 502 Gateway errors in Chrome

  • Resolved Bryan Eggers

After much experimentation I’ve learned that “Post Viewed Recently” was creating a “502 Gateway Error – nginx” on my WordPress site. Not on all articles but consistently on several.

I found this out after disabling all 35 plugins on my site and activating them one at a time. As soon as I activatedg this plugin the error was back, and fully repeatable on several articles.

Just for you info, I was getting the above error only on Chrome but not on Firefox or my Google Pixel phone. When I switched to Incognito mode the error went away.

I really like this plugin so I hope you’ll look into this. Thanks.

    Hello @beggers

I’m sorry to know you’re facing a strange issue. I would suggest you clear your chrome browser caches and cookies. Further, access the website again.

Do give it a try and do let me know.

I think if you reread by original message you’ll see that disabling “Posts Recently Viewed” is what ultimately solved the problem. I had previously tried the long list of standard troubleshooting stuff with Chrome to no avail.

I had gotten to the point where I couldn’t work on my site anymore so I finally disabled all the plugins and activated them one by one until I found the problem.

    No more problems now. 🙂

    Hi @beggers

I understand that you did disable all plugins and activated them one by one and found that this plugin created the issue.

I would like to add that no one other has reported this issue as well as you have got the trouble only in the Chrome browser. Further, the website works fine in incognito mode.

So I suspect that there is some cookie corrupt issue in the browser. That’s why I asked you to clear browser stuff. Also, do let me know your problematic page addresses while keeping the plugin activated to let me check.
