• I am new to WordPress, and am using it to build our company’s Web site:

    http://www.GreggAndTurton.com

It has been working fine, but today when I went to the Web site I couldn’t see it. I then went to the wp-admin page and it also timed out.

    I am getting errors like:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\7191628\html\wp-content\plugins\akismet\admin.php on line 2

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\7191628\html\wp-admin\includes\taxonomy.php on line 21

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\7191628\html\wp-includes\load.php on line 15

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\Hosting\7191628\html\wp-content\plugins\contact-form-7\includes\taggenerator.php on line 3

Different errors pop up each time I refresh.

Any ideas what I can do?

(I cannot check which version of WordPress I am using since I can’t logon due to these errors, but it’s the most recent since I downloaded it last week)

I have built a very simple Web site with about two dozen pages, and almost no plugins (had 6, turned off all but 1 or 2), at http://www.GreggAndTurton.com.

I am getting this ridiculous series of “Fatal error” messages.

I am hosted on GoDaddy, and realized I was on a Windows server instead of a Linux one. I am moving operating systems, but GoDaddy said it will take a few days.

I have done all kinds of editing of the various MEMORY_LIMIT things on the default-constants.php and other files, and the problem persists.

Maybe switching my servers will fix the issue — but I am wondering what more I can do.

    Any ideas?

I had the same problems today with my site after trying to update the index.php file to remove “Comments Off” from my main page. I updated to 3.0.4 yesterday and this afternoon I probably had the same errors you did. At any rate I am hosted by godaddy as well on a windows server so could you let me know if the migration to a linux server sorts this issue out? I’ve checked back into my dashboard and everything seems back to normal but it is quite annoying when you want to get something done.

Yes, it seemed to fix all of my problems when I migrated servers. They really should warn you: when you’re using WordPress, host your blog on a Linux server and not a Windows One.

OK, I just realized that I have another WordPress blog on a Windows server that has never had any problems. So… still baffled as to why moving http://www.GreggAndTurton.com over to a Linux server resolved the timeouts, but it worked. Maybe there’s more going on behind the scenes at GoDaddy than you can perceive from the user side?

I saw some other strings that mentioned these issues, and GoDaddy representatives themselves even were responding saying they were looking into it. So who knows….

My site moved over to linux this past weekend and I haven’t been able to access my dashboard this quickly EVER! Even just my “website under construction” loads so quickly. I’m getting excited to go live here soon.

The transition didn’t prove very smooth though I did have to call them to change so permissions on their end before anything worked again.
    Thanks.
